Beethoven’s “Emperor” with the Wiener Symphoniker and National Philharmonic of Ukraine
Pierre-Laurent Aimard continues this season’s Beethoven concerto cycle as the Wiener Symphoniker Artist-in-Residence on Friday, April 1 and Sunday, April 3 with Chief Conductor Philippe Jordan on the podium, performing Beethoven’s Piano Concerto No. 5, “Emperor” at the Wiener Konzerthaus. On Saturday, April 2, he joins members of the Wiener Symphoniker at the Konzerthaus for an evening of chamber music, featuring Elliott Carter’s 2013 piano trio that was dedicated to him, Epigrams. Aimard is appearing at both the Musikverein and Konzerthaus this season in a collaboration between the two halls and will conclude his residency in May with Beethoven’s Piano Concerto No. 4.
On Wednesday, March 30, Aimard brings the “Emperor” to Kiev, performing in Lysenko Concert Hall with the National Philharmonic of Ukraine and conductor Mykola Dyadyura.
