Touring Messiaen with the London Symphony Orchestra

Pierre-Laurent Aimard joins the London Symphony Orchestra and Simon Rattle to present three performances of Couleurs de la cité celeste, Olivier Messiaen’s rarely-performed musical exploration of the apocalypse. Paired with Bruckner’s Symphony No. 8, the tour begins at the Philharmonie Luxembourg on April 11, with subsequent performances at the Cité de la Musique in Paris on April 12 and London’s Barbican Centre on April 14.

Pierre-Laurent caps his visit to London with a solo recital at the Barbican Centre on April 16, performing another work of Messiaen’s inspired by the divine: Vingt regards sur l’enfant-Jésus, an evening-length meditation on the infancy of Jesus.
