Solo Recitals in Amsterdam, Lugano, Parma, Cambridge, and Luxembourg


Pierre-Laurent presents recitals in four European cities over the course of a week, with stops at Amsterdam’s Muziekgebouw aan ’t IJ on October 15, the Lugano Festival in Switzerland on October 18, the Teatro Farnese in Parma on October 19, the Penthouse Theatre at the University of Cambridge on October 21, and the Philharmonie Luxembourg on October 23.

The Amsterdam, Lugano, Parma, and Luxembourg programs feature a series of short works by György Kurtág (including Passio sine nomine, a piece specifically dedicated to Aimard by the composer), Robert Schumann, and Jan Pieterszoon Sweelinck, highlighting the musical connections between these three composers who lived and worked during diverse musical eras. Select recital programs also include works by Chopin, Boulez, and Messiaen. The Parma recital features the Italian premiere of Julian Anderson’s Sensation. At the University of Cambridge, Aimard performs Messiaen’s evening-length Vingt regards sur l’enfant-Jésus, the composer’s meditation on the infancy of Jesus.
