Having been recognized with a Gramophone Award for his recording of Beethoven’s complete piano concertos, Pierre-Laurent Aimard devotes his next solo album to the composer. Titled Beethoven: “Hammerklavier” Sonata and “Eroica Variations,” the album pairs the “Eroica Variations” with Beethoven’s monumental “Hammerklavier” Sonata, a pinnacle of the piano literature and one of the most challenging works for the instrument. Due for release on Pentatone this July, the first track from the new album, the Allegro from the “Hammarklavier” Sonata, is now available to stream as an advance track.
