Beethoven with the Oslo Philharmonic Orchestra and a Kurtág Celebration

Continuing his season-long focus on the Beethoven piano concertos — including a full cycle as the Wiener Symphoniker’s 2015-16 artist-in-residence — Pierre-Laurent Aimard appears with the Oslo Philharmonic Orchestra on February 18 for the composer’s Piano Concerto No. 4 under the baton of Susanna Mälkki. Find tickets and additional information here.

Later in the week, he joins celebrations at the Budapest Music Center honoring the 90th birthday of Gyorgy Kurtág. On February 19 he performs the Hungarian composer’s …quasi una fantasia…, Op. 27, No. 1 with the Concerto Budapest and conductor András Keller. On the following evening, he takes part in “Kurtág Home Video” with the premiere of the composer’s Passio sine nomine — which was written for him by the composer — as well as a performance of …couple égyptien en route vers l’inconnu… […an Egyptian couple on the way to the unknown…] alongside a short documentary film by Judit Kurtág.
