Pianomania Opens November 4th

Pierre Laurent-Aimard’s Season Highlights Include Release of The Liszt Project on DG and Starring Role in Film Pianomania

Pierre-Laurent Aimard launched what promises to be another extraordinary season with appearances at Germany’s Weimar and Berlin Festivals, and the resounding success of the “Exquisite Labyrinth” festival at London’s Southbank Centre, where he served as both Artistic Advisor and performer. Described by the Guardian as “a generous, weekend-long tribute to Pierre Boulez,” this major retrospective “made for a fitting celebration of the Frenchman’s music” (MusicalCriticism.com).

Pierre-Laurent Aimard celebrates Franz Liszt on new Deutsche Grammophon CD

Slated for international release on October 4, Aimard’s new CD on the famed “yellow label” turns to the music of Franz Liszt. 2011 marks the 200th birthday of the legendary Hungarian composer and piano virtuoso. Aimard uses this recording to explore the relationship of Liszt's music with his contemporaries and successors. The double CD juxtaposes Liszt’s solo piano works with music by Wagner, Berg, Scriabin, Bartók, Ravel, Messiaen and Marco Stroppa.
